The Journey

The Journey

The Journey tells the story of a refugee woman who flees her home to escape conflict and violence. From the streets of her village to the starting line of the track, her journey is told through shots of her legs. Created in collaboration with two IOC Refugee Athlete Scholarship holders, The Journey highlighted the power of sport to bring hope and change for all those forced to flee.

The Journey is a wonderfully crafted piece of sound design. It has no music, yet succeeds in conveying a lot of emotion despite never seeing the protagonists face as they run through war torn land. By using the intimacy of foley, breath, well chosen sfx, atmospheres and tonal sound design, the viewer is transported to a visceral kind of experience.
