The Bound Books Project

To highlight the global surge in book bans, the Dawit Isaak Library launched The Bound Books Project featuring an unreadable book as an act of protest. Created as a piece of resistance art, the book was double bound by hand with pages stitched and sealed inside. Through this unreadable version 1984, a classic warning about authoritarianism, the project turned censorship into a visceral experience. The project was launched during International Banned Books Week, with 20 copies of the bound books made available to schools and public libraries worldwide to keep free speech in the spotlight.
