The Unbearable Lightness - The Invitation Set

The Unbearable Lightness captures artist Shum Kwan Yi’s complex emotions of weightlessness and heaviness in today’s society. It chronicles the artist’s experiences, dilemmas, and inner struggles in bearing the weight of the world. In the design concept for the invitation set, the white block represents the artist’s contemporary Chinese landscape painting. It is presented with a shadowy texture, as if the work is covered in heavy paint. Even though the work is partially covered, the stories and the truth behind them are there to be discovered.
