Volkswagen the Wheel

Volkswagen was at the precipice of one of the biggest shifts in the automotive category as it prepared to launch its electric SUV ID.4 in 2021. To capture this moment Johannes Leonardo crafted a film that reflected the evolution of transportation with one clear message: history isn't made until it's made for everyone. Just like transport, film was also born from the spinning wheel, and became the inspiration to tell the story of motion. So the agency built its own march of progress using some of the oldest devices in film history that also used the wheel: zoetropes, praxinoscopes, and phenakistoscopes.
