The Museum of Stolen Cultural Objects
The Museum of Stolen Cultural Objects
The UNESCO Virtual Museum of Stolen Cultural Objects was created to make a hidden global issue visible: the illicit trafficking of cultural heritage. The project responds to a critical and urgent reality: when objects are stolen, they disappear not only from their communities, but also from public awareness. The ambition was to transform missing objects from archive records into a living digital experience that could educate, move, and mobilise international audiences. The museum was designed as a highly symbolic place.
