The Coolest Ihram

Each year, millions of pilgrims travel to Mecca, walking up to 60km in temperatures reaching 51°C, exposing them to serious heat risk. Saudia’s response: transform the garment every pilgrim must wear into a protective shield. Working with textile engineers, Saudia created The Coolest Ihram, the first Ihram made with patented cooling fabric that lowers skin temperature by up to 2°C, helping to delay overheating and reducing heatstroke risk. First deployed during Hajj 2025, it protected 8,400 pilgrims and has since received official endorsement from the Ministry of Hajj to scale its impact.
