The Cartoons & Puzzles Issue

The New Yorker’s Cartoon and Puzzles & Games departments teamed up to take over an issue of the magazine. Games, gags, goofs, and general eye candy abound in the special issue. There is a bagel-themed puzzle that reveals the caption to a cartoon, a mini-crossword on the cover, and a Shakespeare-themed copy editing game. All of these features come to life and are playable online. The colourful design of the landing page is inspired by classic board games like Parcheesi, and echoes the cover in print.
