Housing over 151,000 objects, Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen is the world’s first publicly accessible art depot. Inside the radical building, it feels as if you have accidentally walked into the staff entrance of a world-class museum. The visitor experience offers stimulating, unusual perspectives on art and encourages discovery. Blurring the distinction between back-of-house and front-of-house, all of the digital touchscreens, wayfinding, and signage have been designed as an extension of the utilitarian architecture: neutral, modular, and functional.
