Victorian Newspaper

Slavery is seen as something from the past, abolished long ago. We wanted to communicate to Londoners that little has changed. Up to 5,000 people in London are made to work under conditions reminiscent of a Charles Dickens novel. Since slavery is a ‘hidden’ problem, we decided to write an ‘expose’, but blur the boundaries between the past and present to emphasise that slaves continue to work in a way that our ancestors would think had been outlawed. The four-page Victorian illustrated newspaper was placed inside 100,000 copies of the ‘The Sunday Telegraph’ and sent to a targeted mailing list.
