The Look Beyond Stable Experience: Augmenting Empathy in Schizophrenia

Milan is world-famous for its elegant design. So there was no better place to do the opposite. And set up an installation to reveal the disorder caused by the neglected symptoms of schizophrenia. In the center of town, we recreated the real, messy spaces of people with the condition. And using augmented reality, visitors could discover the hallucinations, thinking problems, and frustrations that too often turn life upside-down—all to help providers and caregivers recognize the total impact of schizophrenia, and inspire a new mindset for managing it.
