Protest From Home

Protest From Home

There are 6 million unpaid carers in the UK. Over 60% are burnt out, on duty 24 hours a day, with no government-funded respite available. And they can't protest the lack of support, because they can't leave their caring duties. So the UK's unpaid carers staged Protest from Home: the first national march for unpaid carers' rights, attended by no one. Carers filmed at home were projected onto LED vans, their voices mixed into a protest chant as the convoy drove to Parliament Square. Discussed in Parliament that day, it led to a bill on carers' respite rights - now on its second reading.
