Brazilian football is a cultural cornerstone, yet Indigenous communities remain marginalized within it. Gavião Kyikatejê FC, Brazil’s first professional Indigenous football team from the Amazon, had never received formal sponsorship despite its achievements. The issue gained attention when Brazil’s most decorated coach said his team could not be “a team of Indians,” using a normalized but offensive expression on national TV. We turned that moment into an opportunity, launching a film on National Indigenous Resistance Day to transform prejudice into progress and demand recognition for the team.
