Brumadinho Memorial

Brumadinho Memorial was created to honor the victim’s families of one of the biggest Brazilian tragedies. A tailings dam containing iron ore waste collapsed, resulting in a mudflow that destroyed everything in its way and killed 272 people. We created the identity and signage system, commissioning a bespoken typography and mimicking the shapes and angles of the architecture to the signs. An Ipê flower, cut in metal and illuminated, is repeated along a 230-meter path towards the break. 272 flowers, one for each victim, light up like a procession that witnesses what happened in an indelible way.
