Kim Gehrig on becoming a director

D&AD President Naresh Ramchandani was joined for dinner (or breakfast)by LA-based, Australian-born director Kim Gehrig to talkthrough her career as a director, with live questions from an audience of aspiring creatives. The 2021 President’s Award winner talked of the poetry of how winning a D&AD award very early on in her career when she was on a placement, led to her first job in the creative industry.

Providing a unique insight into what creative education and networking was like in exciting 90s London, Gehrig shares some key pieces of advice about building relationships, finding mentors and her “mission” as a creative. She also has lots of practical tips on music video production, storyboarding and editing for aspiring directors looking to develop their skills.
