Transport For London Urban Bus Sound (AVAS)

The silence of the new TFL London/ Urban Electric Bus was the perfect canvas upon which to reshape the sound of the city. Zelig was tasked with creating the sound of the bus (Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System); a project which contained a myriad of cultural opportunities and technical challenges. What should the future of London sound like? How can the sound help to make the city safer? The voices of a diverse range of stakeholders were included – commuters, walkers, cyclists, drivers, the visually impaired and many more – to come together to make a lasting mark on the city’s soundscape.
