Baby BSL: Where is the Bird?

VIKA Books and Innovate UK designed a new form of immersive publishing that empowers the parents of deaf and hearing children (0-3 years) to use British Sign Language (BSL) in the home. Two phases of iterative prototyping put parent feedback at the core of app development. Baby BSL uses a playful UX that is affordable, portable, flexible and fun. It combines illustrations, videos, print and smartphone AR with printed, 3D and kinesthetic products such as buggy books, colouring sheets, stickers, wall art and fabrics to inspire everyday sign language.
