The Sound of Wind

In 2014, MidAmerican Energy chose Siemens to manufacture the year's largest order of onshore wind turbines. To celebrate, Siemens and Ogilvy & Mather New York enlisted musician Will Bates to tell the story of how Siemens is turning wind power into a tangible energy solution for America. The resulting film follows Will in Iowa as he captures the sounds of wind, recording a vast library of audio, from wind chimes on porches and laundry on a clothesline to the whirring of 100 foot turbine blades. Will arranges the audio to create a beautiful rendition of Strauss' Blue Danube. Music provides an emotional lens that lets Siemens, and the viewer, meet the people whose lives have been touched by wind energy, and to explore the economic, social and human impact of the power of wind.
