The Opening - Merlin Carpenter

London-based artist Merlin Carpenter created all of the paintings documented in this book during a series of opening events staged at galleries in New York, Los Angeles, Berlin, Zurich, London and Brussels between 2007 and 2009. The front section of the book combines essays by Caroline Busta alongside a showcase of each event using grids of reportage photography, presented as though cropped from a larger document. The back section of the book catalogues each of the resulting paintings alongside an email exchange between George Baker, Merlin Carpenter and his publisher.
