Faire Impression
Faire Impression
This book is about the creation of French art schools in the 19th Century and their link with each region’s industry. Mulhouse (Alsace) represents the story of these schools. Mulhouse was then renowned for its fabric printing industry. A drawing school was created to provide fresh designs. I used original students’ drawings from the Fabric Printing Museum archives to design the cover and title pages. Typography and pattern are merged down. The book size is the same as the annual books published by Mulhouse Industrial Society. Fonts were designed by François Rappo, former typography teacher at the school.
