Putting Daisy Down by Jay McInerney
Putting Daisy Down by Jay McInerney
We had two particularly strong stories in our fiction issue and we needed dramatic images that would set the mood. Jay McIrnerney’s ‘Putting Daisy Down’ is a dark tale about the psychological battle between a married couple, focused on their doomed cat. Swava Harasymowicz conveys a sense of impending domestic horror with style, colours and the aura of menace. The large colour illustrations make a fabulous contrast with the pages of dense text that follow, with simple, understated graphic elements.
