Futureproofed: Design Council Review 2004/5
Futureproofed: Design Council Review 2004/5
The brief was to bring to life the three core areas of activity within the Design Council: Business, Public Services and Design. Small, working for the Design Council and writer Howard Fletcher devised the theme of ‘Futureproofed’, an application of design that gives the country long-term protection against whatever the future may throw at it. To bring this central tenant to life Small commissioned a photographic essay about the whole of the British Isles, shot by Dan Holdsworth. Physically sewn into the book were ‘Futureproofed’ tickets that acted as section dividers and visual guarantees of the Design Council's work in ensuring the country’s future through the application of design.
