The Purple Book

The ‘Purple Book’, features five classic literary texts and illustrations from 21 contemporary artists. Edited by Angus Hyland and Angharad Lewis, the book explores sensuality, fantasy and dreamlike states. Writing by Edgar Allan Poe, James Joyce, Christina Rossetti, and Georges Bataille accompanies illustrations influenced by the symbolist and surrealist movements of the 19th and 20th centuries in work from artists including Vania Zouravliov, Jules Julien and Laura Laine.
