The Parental Leave Mortgage

Despite Finland’s progressive parental leave policies, 88% of leave days are taken by women, with financial pressures discouraging fathers from taking their share. This reinforces gender inequality at home and work. To address this, we created the Parental Leave Mortgage—a first-of-its-kind product allowing parents to pause mortgage payments during leave, with no costs. By removing a key financial barrier, it made leave more equitable, encouraging fathers to participate and giving families financial freedom to choose what works best.
