The Beautiful Black List

D&AD is renowned as the most prestigious international design award scheme. Among all the honours presented at its annual ceremonies, the ‘Black Pencil’ is the only award bestowed on works that are truly groundbreaking. Celebrating its 50th anniversary, D&AD exhibited successive Black Pencil works together for the first time. We named these collectively as the ‘Black List’ and executed the exhibition's total design. The main theme is that of the whale. The gigantic mammal’s extraordinary power has fascinated the human mind since the dawn of time. We feel its ability to travel the world without boundaries is equal to D&AD’s unparalleled potential for new discovery.
