ALS is a disease that leaves people completely immobile and silent. There are technologies to help patients to communicate again, but their cost makes them inaccessible for 90% of people. The cameras included in Samsung tablets have the eye recognition and tracking technology which is normally used for facial recognition but, with the necessary software, can be used for much more. Free app TALLK uses the camera of Samsung tablets to locate the pupils and other characteristic points of the face, and translates its movements within a predictive virtual keyboard.
