Shiro Kuramata
Shiro Kuramata
We wanted to combine minimalism, surprise and humour, creating a product that could be both an art object and a book. The collection presents an extensive archive of Shiro Kuramata’s work alongside Deyan Sudjic’s writings about the designer. In keeping with this duality our approach was to make something that feels ruminative and analytical in equal measure. The larger of the two books was printed on ‘high volume’ uncoated paper while we used thin coated paper for the second. The typography is clean and counter-balanced by the images that are placed freely. The reductive black and white cover design is transformed by the multi-coloured slipcase.
