For many years, white skin has been used as the standard to calibrate colours in photography using Shirley Cards. This made it difficult for Black skin tones to be portrayed accurately, which has remained an issue in today's technologies and algorithms. RGBLACK wanted to change this racial bias in the professional audiovisual industry, beginning with new calibration cards designed for diverse skin tones. The ongoing aims of the movement include changing facial recognition algorithms and developing new machinery for the audiovisual industry.
