Groupe Le Monde Signage System
Groupe Le Monde Signage System
For the new Groupe Le Monde Headquarters in Paris, Snøhetta developed a highly flexible wayfinding system that pays tribute to the tradition and art of newspaper printing. The signage is meticulously milled from wooden slabs of poplar in a local workshop outside Paris, coated by a thin layer of ink-black paint. Available in three different sizes, the wooden types are produced in more than 18,000 specimens assembled throughout the eight storeys of the 23 sq m building. The intuitive and tactile wayfinding echoes the adaptable character of modern-day newsrooms in a technology-driven age.
