Giving a Voice to the Unheard

Islam Alijaj ran for the Swiss National Parliament as the longest of longshot-candidates: He sits in a wheelchair and he has a strong speech impediment. Yet he finally wanted to give 1.8 million people that live with disabilities in Switzerland a voice in politics. While campaigns for inclusion often rely on pity, we took a different approach: No wheelchair or other signs showing his disabilities at the heart of the campaign. We used AI to reduce the speech impediment so he could show people his ideas and empowered other people with disabilities to join his successful grassroots movement.
