Classic Album Covers

Royal Mail wanted to celebrate some of the most iconic British album covers. Finding a different way of presenting them, beyond just having the cover artwork, was key to Studio Dempsey. Thumbing through an old collection of albums, it became clear that it was the tactile quality of the vinyl itself that was the appeal – and the answer to the design problem. We gave the stamps a three-dimensional effect and emphasised the vinyl aspect by showing discs partway out of the sleeve. All the albums were sourced in their original form and photographed to show their imperfections for authenticity.
