How do you convince drunk people to take a taxi instead of driving? We added the real costs of drunk driving to people’s bar tabs. When customers went to pay their bar tabs, they were in for a shock. Their tabs were extremely expensive, with totals as high as 79,000 Brazilian Reais. Items such as ‘Ambulance’, ‘Day in ICU’, ‘X-ray’, ‘Amputation’, and ‘Wheelchair’ were listed among their drink purchases. At the bottom of the bar tab, customers read: ‘Driving home could be very expensive. Don’t Drink and Drive. Bar Aurora and Boteco Ferraz’.
