Calling Attendance
Calling Attendance
Every day, thousands of children have their education destroyed through deliberate attack: sexual exploitation, murder, kidnapping, military occupation. Education Above All is trying to stop this. The foundation needed to attract the attention of world leaders, who didn’t see the issue as a top priority, so the film used a class roll call – a universally recognised school ritual – to show that when children aren’t in school, they are often somewhere much worse. The film was played by the UN Secretary General at the UN’s second-ever edition of its Day to Protect Education from Attack event, and marked the start of a movement.
