To connect to new audiences, the Art Gallery of Ontario challenged the passive viewing experience, proving our physiological responses to art. As a new way to experience art, the Art Rate Monitor doesn’t tell you about the art; it lets the art tell you about yourself. A tech-enabled wristband connects to beacons throughout the gallery, analyzes biometric data and visualizes the results in a shareable format within a bespoke design system. These include a viewer’s art persona, colour preferences and art responses, revealing a data-based snapshot each viewer’s art experience.
