Behind the scenes of Rosalía’s darkly surreal music video

The music video for Rosalía’s highly anticipated single Berghain, named after the legendary Berlin nightclub, transforms the mundane everyday into a dark, magical narrative.

Directed by Nicolás Méndez, the video sees Rosalía’s everyday life overwhelmed by an orchestra following her every move. When her fate is sealed by a broken heart, the singer plunges further into a twisted blend of the domestic and the fantastical.

Borrowing from the storytelling and visual language of fairytales like Snow White and Sleeping Beauty, the video culminates in a surreal encounter with animals that symbolises the character’s journey. “The day we shot with the animals was a big surprise, because they behaved like proper actors,” producer Victor Mata recalls.
