About

Catherine Griffiths (Pākehā, Aotearoa New Zealand) is an artist, typographer and designer. Improvisation is critical to her practice which moves between graphic design, self-publishing, and commissioned art installations in public and private spaces, architectural and landscape. She is co-founder of publishing imprint Vapour Momenta Books. »catherine griffiths : SOLO IN [ ] SPACE« (2019), her first survey show of selected works, exhibited in Shanghai. A post-exhibition book of the same title, a documentation, was published in 2021. Selected works are in the collections of the Auckland Council, Christchurch Art Gallery, Stedelijk Museum, National Hangeul Museum in Seoul, Shanghai Institute of Visual Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art Special Collection Library (books), and the Special Collection at the Art Institute of Chicago (books). She has exhibited in New Zealand, Chile, France, USA, China and Korea.
