Gun culture runs deep in the US, so much so that Americans are often blind to its true impact. In fact, firearms are the leading cause of teenage deaths and suicides, and are the most common method of domestic violence in the US. But these statistics remain unknown to everyday Americans, so Change the Ref, a non-profit organisation founded by the parents of Joaquin Oliver – a victim of the Parkland High School mass shooting – set out to remind everyone that guns are behind some of the nation’s most horrific statistics.
