For over a century, Kodansha has been making massive cultural contributions through iconic manga stories. But the brand presence was rarely felt and little known outside of Japan. Kodansha collaborated with Gretel on its first brand update in over 100 years. To signal Kodansha’s visual and strategic evolution, celebrate its purpose and announce its presence on the global stage, Kodansha wanted to tell a rich, inspiring launch story. The crux of the launch was a representation of the creative journey, which would in turn lead to the brand film: Taking Flight.
