76% of Americans drive to work alone, jamming to their favourite tunes behind the wheel and all the while adding to the USA’s air pollution and the Earth’s environmental strain – an issue that could very easily be solved if the drivers decided to travel together. Spotify uses mutual love for music to encourage carpooling. It collaborated with Google Maps to identify people who are travelling the same route to pair them up based on their common musical tastes. It also brought James Corden on board to match with people on Spotify and host a special edition of Carpool Karaoke.
