Award: Wood Pencil

Wood Pencil / Digital Marketing / Digital Tools & Utilities / 2018

For the 2017 French presidential election, Libération embarked on an anti-fake news campaign. Championing fact-checked journalism, the aim was to help voters sort fact from fiction. CheckNews – a new kind of search engine – was created powered not by algorithms but by journalists. People could ask questions on checknews.fr and journalists investigated their queries before returning with real, fact-based, and verifiable answers.
