Spicers Christmas Gift

A packaging project of this kind rarely sees the light of day. An added bonus was a supportive client like Brian Longmore from Spicers Paper, Australia. The project allowed us to explore the ritual of gift giving as well as investigate the new eco attitude to packaging. It soon became obvious that regurgitating an old approach was not enough. We were inspired to concentrate on a simple but unusual technique: constructing the box entirely by folding one sheet of paper without gluing or tabbing. It is wholly held together by the lid which, when opened, transforms the box into an unexpected sculpture.
