Ant Mill

Warsong by The Cure talks about an endless doomed conflict where the participants seem to have no choice but to continue to fight yet also seem to need each other. For War Child presents Secret 7” I have visualised this idea by using the imagery of an ant mill, also known as a death spiral. This is a phenomenon where ants get trapped because the same pheromones they rely on to navigate sometimes trap them running in a circle, often until they die of exhaustion. The spiral takes the shape of a skull as an iconic visual tied to death.
