The 1619 Project
The 1619 Project
The 1619 Project is an editorial initiative that marks the 400th anniversary of the start of American slavery and catalogues its legacy in contemporary American society, as well as the contributions of black Americans in actualising the country’s founding ideals. The project included essays that revealed how slavery affected key facets of America, literary works by eminent black writers, and a visual history of slavery that assessed its history and how that history is taught.
