Reclaiming Accessibility To Lower-limb Prosthetics

This project was a result of a final year academic thesis, aimed at solving the accessibility problem of lower-limb prosthetics in rural communities. Of the 40-million amputees estimated to be living in developing countries, currently 95% of them are currently without access to prosthetic services and devices (Greenberg, Mehta & Ritter, 2015). The solution is a versatile D.I.Y prosthetic made of accessible materials. The design proposes three different iterations of a D.I.Y prosthetic with an accompanying D.I.Y design manual.
