Picturing the Invisible — Earthquake, Meltdown, Memory

Published to mark the 15th anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear disaster, Picturing the Invisible brings together 7 artists working in the region. These artworks are paired with essays written by policymakers, citizen scientists, authors, academics, and activists. Their views are eclectic and sometimes conflict, but they share a common conviction: the disaster has not yet passed into history. Together, they make visible the disaster's forgotten legacies: from the ghostly touch of radiation to lingering traumas and the resilience of the affected communities.
