Fairmount Serif is a custom institutional typeface for the Philadelphia Museum of Art, designed in collaboration with a type designer. The design draws from the museum’s origins as the Pennsylvania Museum & School of Industrial Arts and Philadelphia’s working-class heritage, with serif details inspired by the museum's original seal and engraved walls. Sturdy yet refined, it anchors the institution’s typographic voice while acting as a foil to the expressive vernacular faces of its exhibitions, programming, and sub-brands.
