People Smuggler: World's Most Wanted

The 2015 migration crisis. What began life as a companion piece to a documentary about a notorious people smuggler, rapidly evolved. The challenge was to design something which would make the user feel the same sense of engagement. The result: a geographical timeline digitally transports the user through the entire journey undertaken by families across Africa to Europe. Through the eyes of Alex Crawford, we glimpse first hand experience from migrants on the journey, the struggles brought to life with editorial information, location maps and information on the sheer scale of the task.
