Other Matter x Aesop Hainan: A Regenerative Interior

Aesop Hainan reimagines retail as an immersive spatial experience inspired by sunlight refracted through water. Created with material innovation studio Other Matter, the interior features over 2,000 hand-coated aluminium elements suspended overhead, casting shifting patterns of light reminiscent of the ocean floor. At each entrance, large-scale biopolymer installations—including a four-metre column—offer a marble-like, regenerative finish that frames the store. Together, these elements unite craft, innovation, and atmospheric storytelling to elevate the future of sustainable interior design.
