Kico - Hearing Agency for Hard-of-Hearing People

Kico is a system to create communal efforts by both hard-of-hearing people (HoH) and normal hearing people (NH) to engage in understandable conversation, and functions as agency for HoH by AI understanding each hearing difficulty. NH are reminded to speak at appropriate speed, volume and pitch by haptic feedback from the system, on behalf of HoH. NH can also learn how to speak by speech visualisation. HoH can listen back to missed conversation and play a role in training the system. Three working prototypes have been validated by six HoH people and their family in Copenhagen.
