Follow Their Leader

Follow Their Leader is a fundraising platform that silences online radicalisers by buying them fake followers. 70% of registered extremists were radicalised through social media. While Facebook and Twitter have been criticised, Instagram has flown under the radar and served as a home for hate speech. The algorithms are designed to automatically shadow ban accounts with fake followers and ultimately shut them down. Follow Their Leader gathers accounts and puts them up for ‘sale’, allowing people to direct fake followers to the profiles they want to shut down. So far Follow the Leader has shadow banned six profiles and deleted 15.
