Blender Magazine Redesign

Blender speaks to contemporary music fans with a distinctive voice that combines critical authority with the irreverence of the music it covers. Our redesign goal was a thoroughly modern magazine that – through a striking new look – delivers service and information with the ease that readers have come to expect in the technological age. We engineered a cohesive, graphic design approach to reflect the flow of organic and mechanical sounds the magazine covers. Playing off custom-built gigantic geometric type used for section heads, drop caps and display, we took fat rules, rounded the corners and used them as ratings keys, abstract accents, and chart lines. The result is a vibrant, lasting visual impact that will draw the readers in deeper.
